You can now buy Redmi K20 and K20 Pro any time — no more waiting for flash sales

• Xiaomi's Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are now available to buy via open sales on Flipkart and Xiaomi's official website.
• This means users can place an order for the phone at any time rather than waiting for a designated flash sale.
• Both, the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro, come with a triple camera setup in the back with a 48-megapixel primary sensor.

Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are now up for grabs via open sales on Flipkart and the company’s official website. This means that users won’t have to wait for flash sales, which take place at a designated time with limited stocks. Now, there won’t be any such restrictions as they can be purchased anytime.

This is the first time that a new Redmi or Xiaomi phone has been offered on open sale so quickly. Usually, the company uses the flash sale model to build hype around its products.

But since Xiaomi’s market share has been consistently growing in India standing at 28% at Q2 2019, according to Counterpoint Research — the company is easing access and ditching the gimmicks.

Redmi K20 and K20 Pro open sale

The Redmi K20 is for sale starting at ₹ 21,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB base model. The phone’s 6 GB RAm and 128GB variant costs ₹23,999 a piece.

The Redmi K20 Pro is more expensive of the both, starting at ₹27,999 for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage option. Users can also opt for the 8GB RAM and 356GB storage options which costs ₹30,999.

Both phones are available across three colours — Carbon Black, Glacier Blue and Flame Red.

Redmi K20 Pro features

The Redmi K20 Pro might have been criticized for not being cheaper in India than it is in China but it still packs a punch when it comes to value for money.

The phone’s main selling point is the 48-megapixel primary lens in the back, supported by a 13-megapixel wide angle lens and an 8-megapixel depth sensor.

While more megapixels doesn’t necessarily mean better pictures, it does allow for bigger pictures. So, if you were to take a landscape picture that you later wanted to zoom into and crop — the loss of quality would be relatively minimal.

Redmi doesn’t shy away in the front camera department either, with a 20-megapixel pop-up camera.

The point of integrating a pop-up camera is so the bezels on the phone are thinner and the notch can be done away with. So, the K20 Pro’s 6.39-inch full HD+ AMOLED screen is notch-less with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

The Redmi K20 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC, one of the reasons behind the phone’s price, and runs on a 4,000mAh battery.

Large batteries last longer but they also take longer to change. To help with that, Xiaomi’s included 27W fast charging support.

Redmi K20 features

The Redmi K20 isn’t as powerful as the K20 Power but still seems to batting fine of its weight class. The phone has the same display as its sister phone but sports a Snapdragon 730 chipset.

It also has the same 4,000mAh battery but its fast charging support is limited to 18W.

But the main feature of the Redmi K20 Pro — its cameras — are the same on the Redmi K20.

Not only is Xiaomi changing its sales strategy in India, it also continues to expand its portfolio. Yesterday, the company launched its Mi Powerbank 2i with fast charging on both ports.
