If executive producer Richard McKerrow had to describe "The Great British Bake Off" with one pastry, he'd choose a "proper" British Victoria sandwich.

"Creamy, fruity, a family-pleasing classic that seems straightforward but actually with the slightest error, can break your heart," he told Business Insider in July.
