Meet Rajmal Meena, a security guard from JNU who cleared university’s entrance examination, and is now aiming to become an IAS officer

An ambitious security guard of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has qualified for the very university’s entrace exam. And now, he is all set to become a student in the university he worked for.

The 34-year old JNU guard has now set his eyes on UPSC Civil Services Examination. NeoStencil, an online platform is helping him prepare for the competitive exam.

Rajmal is from Karauli in Rajasthan, and had to stop his education due to financial crunch. He is a postgraduate in Political Science. He will now study Russian language from the university.

On being asked about his interest in the language, the maverick said that he is keen on visiting Russia and experience its lifestyle and culture.

"I have cleared the entrance examination for BA in the Russian language. Now, I will study the Russian Language here in the university for the next five years,” Rajmal told the Times of India.

According to media reports, the competitive exam preparation market in India is estimated to hit ₹850 billion. Overall, nearly 70 million students apply for government jobs and the related competitive exams.

The UPSC CSE is conducted to select officers of the elite public services like Indian Administration Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and others.
