The Railways has launched a new AC 3-tier coach with new facilities like CCTV cameras, bio-toilets and other safety features.

CCTV cameras would be set up at the entrance of each coach and fire-retardant materials would be used to prevent fire.

These AC coaches manufactured at the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, would be equipped with wider stainless steel ladder with hand-holds for easy climbing to upper berths.

Also, in a step to make coaches disable-friendly, there would be braille stickers. The door of the coach can now swing both ways for faster evacuation. Around Rs 7.2 lakhs were spent to upgrade the coach.

This new compartment is the 50,000th rolled out from ICF and is expected to be fitted in a train meant for the southern states.
