Indian Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu presented his second budget today and the question remains whether the Rail Budget 2016 was really on track?
Opposition came down heavily on Prabhu as soon as he concluded his budget speech. Angry and disappointed voices had already begun in the Lok Sabha when Prabhu was announcing a slew of measures for the common man.
Former railway ministers rejected the budget, saying it was a failure.
Commenting on the budget, former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said that BJP had already derailed from the objectives.
Yadav said railways is a lifeline of people and more than bullet trains, people wanted the budget to be on track.
Dinesh Trivedi, also a former railway minister, said, “It was nothing. Budget is a vision statement and this was statement of illusion.”
Meanwhile, Congress party lawmaker Shashi Tharoor said, “We all are a bit mystified, whether a budget was really presented or not.”
However, BJP lawmakers welcomed the Rail budget 2016, saying it will deliver results.
