Bob Greenblatt joins WarnerMedia to lead HBO
As was rumored last week, Bob Greenblatt has joined WarnerMedia to lead HBO, the linear cable networks TNT, TBS and truTV, and the Direct-to-Consumer business. The change comes as part of a larger reorganization announced by WarnerMedia. Jeff Zucker will take on an expanded role as Chairman of WarnerMedia News & Sports, Kevin Tsujihara continues as Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros, and Gerhard Zeiler, has been elevated from President, Turner International to WarnerMedia Chief Revenue Officer.
Andreessen Horowitz hires first General Partner focused on later-stage investing
David George has joined Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z) as a General Partner where he will focus on later-stage investment opportunities. A16Z is building out its later-stage investment capabilities as it sees venture-backed companies staying private for longer.
Gottlieb abruptly resigns from the Food and Drug Administration
Scott Gottlieb has resigned as Commissioner from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration after two years on the job. The news comes in the middle of several public health initiatives pushed by Gottlieb, most notably his fight to curb teen vaping. Gottlieb's sudden exit is especially notable because he had been one of the least controversial appointments made by the Trump White House.
Laura Yens joins LendingTree as General Counsel
LendingTree has announced the appointment of Laura Yens as the company's new General Counsel following the retirement of Kate Pierce in August 2018. Yens was most recently at the law firm Alston & Bird, where she advised senior management at global banks and FinTech companies in the US and internationally.
Gusto hires Fredrick Lee as Chief Security Officer
Gusto announced that Fredrick Lee will join the company as its chief security officer. Lee was most recently Square's head of information security and has previously held senior security and privacy roles at Bank of America, Betfair, NetSuite and Twilio. As Gusto's CSO, Lee will lead the company's information and physical security strategies, including consumer protection, compliance, governance and risk.
