Former President Donald Trump's private plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday night, according to Politico.

Trump's plane was in the air for "between 20 and 30 minutes before one of the engines failed," forcing the pilot to return to New Orleans, according to the report, which cited two people familiar with the incident and one who was briefed on the flight recording.

The former president was heading out of New Orleans following his Saturday speech at the Republican National Committee's donor retreat.

Upon landing, Trump secured a flight back to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on a GOP donor's plane, according to Politico.

Trump's post-presidency office did not immediately return Insider's request for comment.

It was unclear on Wednesday which model plane Trump was using.

Before he settled into Air Force One while serving as president, Trump had been using a Boeing 757. CNN reviewed flight records for a 2021 story on Trump's private plane and found it hadn't been used since Inauguration Day in 2017.
