- Trump joked Jared Kushner might get raped while camping, according to NYT reporter Maggie Haberman's book.
- He also mocked his son-in-law's slight build, sounding like a child, and Jewish customs, per the book.
Former President Donald Trump mocked his son-in-law Jared Kushner and suggested he might get sexually assaulted while camping, according to the upcoming book by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman.
"Ivanka wants to rent one of those big RVs," Trump told aides, according to "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America," a copy obtained by The Guardian.
"This skinny guy wants to do it. Can you imagine Jared and his skinny ass camping? It'd be like something out of Deliverance."
Trump then proceeded to make noises mimicking the banjo theme song of the 1972 movie, which contains a famous graphic scene in which a man is brutally raped while traveling in rural Georgia, the book said.
The episode occurred during a meeting about campaign strategy for the 2020 election.
The book contains multiple anecdotes of Trump mocking and belittling his son-in-law, according to The Guardian.
Trump once commented that Kushner "sounds like a child" after he spoke to reporters in 2017, the book says.
He also sneered at Kushner's observance of Jewish customs, once saying "fucking Shabbat" and queried whether his son-in-law was really religious or just avoiding work.
Maggie Haberman also revealed in the book that Trump almost fired Kushner and his daughter Ivanka Trump as his senior White House aides through a tweet.
The incident is reminiscent of another anecdote in a book by Trump's former trade advisor Peter Navarro, in which Trump supposedly backed a plot to oust Kushner from leading his campaign and replace him with Steve Bannon.
Trump has raged at Maggie Haberman on Truth Social, nicknaming her "Maggot" and calling her a "bad writer with very bad sources."
In response, Haberman tweeted a photo showing his handwritten answers to her questions about the book.

The book, which includes interviews with the former president, is due to be published next week.
