Trump lawyer and co-defendant Jenna Ellis says she won't support him due to his 'malignant narcissistic' tendencies

Jenna Ellis, one of Donald Trump's former lawyers who is a co-defendant in Georgia, has turned on the former president.

Ellis said she would not support his third bid for the presidency because of his "narcissistic" tendencies.

"I simply can't support him for elected office again," Ellis said on her show on American Family Radio, a right-wing Christian network. "Why I have chosen to distance is because of that frankly malignant narcissistic tendency to simply say that he's never done anything wrong."

Trump had already turned on Ellis earlier this year when she expressed support for his 2024 rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trump and 18 of his associates, including Ellis, were charged in Georgia relating to their efforts to overturn Biden's election victory in the state.

Prosecutors say that the group attempted to organize a scheme to use "fake" Electoral College electors to vote in favor of the former president.

Ellis faces charges of racketeering and soliciting a public official to violate their oath of office. She turned herself in last month and was released on $100,000 bond.

Trump, meanwhile, faces 13 charges including racketeering, solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, conspiracy, making false statements and writings, and filing false documents.

Ellis gained national attention when she became an adviser for Trump in late 2019 after the former president was reportedly impressed by her TV appearances.

On her show on Thursday, Ellis spoke with another right-wing host, Steve Deace, about her changed views on Trump.

Deace spoke critically of the former president at length, particularly his inability to admit fault and lack of religiousness. He added that Trump "needs Jesus again" and ought to admit he "not God."

Ellis responded that Deace had "perfectly articulated exactly how I as a voter feel."

"I know him well, as a friend, as a former boss, I have great love and respect for him personally," Ellis said. "But everything that you just said resonates with me as exactly why I simply can't support him for elected office again."
