As Florida battles a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, Gov. Ron DeSantis claims he's not aware of a recent shipment of ventilators the Biden administration says it sent to the state, according to CNN.

An official from the Department of Health and Human Services says a shipment from the Strategic National Stockpile of 200 ventilators and 100 high-flow nasal cannula kits was sent to the state, CNN reported.

The state requested 300 ventilators to replace the state's supply, according to ABC Local10 in Florida, citing planning documents the station obtained.

But DeSantis says he "would honestly doubt that that's true."

"I'll look, because we have a lot of stuff that we stockpiled over the last year and a half through the Department of Emergency Management," DeSantis told reporters Tuesday.

The governor also warned Washington against any sort of federal intervention in the state's COVID-19 surge, claiming any sort of involvement "would be very inappropriate."

In response to DeSantis' claim, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said: "As a policy, we don't send ventilators to states without their interest in receiving those ventilators."
