The president of a major teachers' union will call for schools to fully reopen in the fall, The New York Times reported.

Randi Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers, the second-largest teachers' union in the US, is planning to make a speech on Thursday calling for the opening, The Times reported.

She will say "There is no doubt: Schools must be open. In person. Five days a week," according to The Times.

And she says her whole union supports the move: "And my union is all in."

Teachers' unions have generally resisted full school reopenings so far during the pandemic, and have been accused of delaying them opening up further.
