GOP presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Saturday that he'd consider Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds as a potential running mate if he wins the Republican nomination. She appears to have other plans.

DeSantis, who currently sits second behind former President Donald Trump in the vast majority of GOP presidential primary polls, said "of course" when asked if she was in the running to be his second-in-command.

"She's one of the top public servants in America," he said.

But Reynolds demurred when asked in an interview Monday morning on Fox News if she'd accept the offer.

"I am so focused," she told Fox News' Ainsley Earhardt. "I'm busy working on being the governor of the great state of Iowa."

In addition to suggesting her as a potential running mate, DeSantis criticized Trump for his recent attacks on Reynolds.

"She's one of the top public servants in America," DeSantis said. "I thought the attacks on her were totally, totally out of hand and totally unnecessary."

About a week prior, following a New York Times report detailing a friendship and camaraderie between DeSantis and Reynolds, Trump took to Truth Social to voice his displeasure with the Iowan, who reportedly doesn't plan to publicly endorse a candidate in the primary race.

"I opened up the Governor position for Kim Reynolds, & when she fell behind, I ENDORSED her, did big Rallies, & she won," Trump wrote. "Now, she wants to remain 'NEUTRAL.' I don't invite her to events! DeSanctus down 45 points!"

Reynolds' comments on Monday were not the first time she's said she doesn't want to be someone's vice president.

"I love what we're doing here in Iowa, and hopefully, I continue to make it pretty clear we're not done," she told the Des Moines Register in February when asked about being anyone's running mate.
