Russian President Vladimir Putin sent President Donald Trump his wishes for a full recovery from the coronavirus, the Kremlin announced on Friday.

Putin sent a telegram in Friday saying that the US president's "innate vitality, good spirits and optimism" will help him cope, according to the Kremlin.

Trump tweeted early on Friday that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for the virus.

The White House doctor has said that the US president is feeling "well," but has not confirmed whether either of them is experiencing symptoms.

The Russian leader joined several world leaders in sending their best wishes, including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was seriously infected and hospitalized with the virus in April. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his wishes in a tweet.

Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier wished the US president "a speedy and easy recovery," according to Al Arabiya.
