President-elect Joe Biden is set to hire an all-female communications team, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

Biden selected the Democratic spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki as his White House press secretary. Psaki also briefly served as communications director for the Obama administration and as a spokeswoman for then-Secretary of State John Kerry.

"When she steps to that mic, she brings not only a sense of gravitas, but fact, transparency, and honesty. And even a sense of comfort," Minyon Moore, who is on the Biden-Harris transition advisory board, told The Post.

Kate Bedingfield, the communications director for Biden's campaign, will lead his press team at the White House under the same title, according to The Post.

"Communicating directly and truthfully to the American people is one of the most important duties of a president, and this team will be entrusted with the tremendous responsibility of connecting the American people to the White House," Biden said in a statement to The Post.

"These qualified, experienced communicators bring diverse perspectives to their work and a shared commitment to building this country back better," he continued.

Ashley Etienne, a Biden campaign senior advisor, will be communications director to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. Etienne also formerly served as a communications director for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Symone Sanders, another senior advisor to the Biden campaign, will serve as Harris' chief spokeswoman.

"Our country is facing unprecedented challenges — from the coronavirus pandemic to the economic crisis, to the climate crisis, and a long-overdue reckoning over racial injustice," Harris said in a statement to The Post.

"To overcome these challenges, we need to communicate clearly, honestly, and transparently with the American people, and this experienced, talented, and barrier-shattering team will help us do that," she added.
