After an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nomination in 2020, Harris was selected as Biden's pick for vice president.</p><p>When <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/joe-biden-dropping-out-presidential-race-2024-7">Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race</a> on July 21, Harris became the presumed nominee.
