A Democratic state lawmaker in Pennsylvania won re-election by a landslide — even though he died last month.

Rep. Tony DeLuca, who died at the age of 85 on October 9 from lymphoma, crushed Green Party challenger Zarah Livingston in Tuesday's midterm elections.

DeLuca took in more than 85% of the vote in Pennsylvania's 32nd Legislative District. By the time DeLuca died, it had been too late for officials to change the election ballots, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Since DeLuca is dead, there will be a special election in the future to fill the seat.

The Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee commented on the victory for the late lawmaker, tweeting: "While we're incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously."

DeLuca was the longest-serving lawmaker in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and served the 32nd Legislative District for 39 years.
