As protests continue in New York City following the killing of George Floyd, a Black man who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck for over 8 minutes in Minneapolis, the New York Police Department decided to cancel officer's regular days off, according to an internal memo obtained by the New York Post.

"At this time, regular days off for full duty uniformed members of the service are canceled," spokesperson Sgt. Jessica McRorie announced Tuesday.

The officer who knelt on Floyd's neck, Derek Chauvin, was arrested and charged with third-degree murder on May 29. CNN reported on Wednesday, citing two sources, that a decision had been made by the Minnesota Attorney General's office on whether to pursue additional charges.
