House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed annoyance at a reporter's question on Thursday about whether she would commit to serving the full two-year term to which she was just elected in November.

"What is this? What is this? Don't bother me with a question like that," she said at her weekly press conference. "Really. Really, okay?"

"I've said what I'm gonna do," she continued. "Those kind of questions are such a waste of my time."

Pelosi, who's served as the top Democrat for 20 years, recently announced her decision to step down from leadership at the end of this Congress. She will be succeeded as Democratic leader by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York. Pelosi's decision to continue serving after relinquishing her leadership role is unusual.

The California Democrat, who has represented San Francisco in Congress since 1987, recently filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission indicating that she plans to run for re-election in 2024.

However, such paperwork is largely a formality and doesn't necessarily indicate whether she will ultimately decide to run again.

Meanwhile, speculation continues to brew in San Francisco about who might succeed Pelosi when she does choose to exit Congress. Democratic State Sen. Scott Weiner and Pelosi's daughter, Christine, are among the names who are said to be eyeing the seat.
