Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell awkwardly froze up during a press conference on Wednesday and needed assistance, just over one month after going through a similar incident in Washington DC.

McConnell, 81, was in the middle of taking reporters' questions in Kentucky when he suddenly appeared disoriented and confused.

Just before the incident occurred, McConnell was recorded answering questions from reporters about a potential government shutdown, which he said he thinks will be avoided with a short term funding deal.

"Leader McConnell felt momentarily lightheaded and paused during his press conference today," a McConnell spokesperson told CNN. "As a prudential measure, the leader will be consulting a physician prior to his next event."

Last month, McConnell abruptly and awkwardly stopped speaking during a press conference at the Capitol before being whisked away. He later told reporters that he was "fine" and an aide of his told Insider that the senator only stepped away because he "felt lightheaded."

In April, the senator returned to work following a six-week absence after he suffered a concussion and fractured rib in a fall. Following his accident, McConnell's GOP colleagues in the Senate said he was "tough as a boot" and predicted he would recover quickly. It was later revealed he fell two other times this year.

A representative for McConnell did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
