Polls close in the state at 8 p.m. local time, or 11 p.m. EST.

Sidhu resigned in May amid an ongoing FBI corruption investigation that put Trevor O'Neil in the mayor pro tem seat.

O'Neil currently represents the 6th District on the Anaheim City Council and replaced Sidhu after his resignation. He is campaigning on addressing housing affordability and the city's continued economic recovery in the aftermath of the pandemic. Early polling shows O'Neil in the leading position to win the race to represent Anaheim for a full term.

Ashleigh Aitken, one of O'Neil's opponents, is a former federal prosecutor and trial attorney. Born and raised in Anaheim, she is running with the goal to rebuild the city's economy post-pandemic.

Lorri Galloway is the chief executive officer of a nonprofit who's served two terms on the Anaheim City Council. If she's elected, Galloway said one of her main focuses will be the city's homelessness problem.

"Rather than making it all about affordable housing and housing issues, we need to really go to the root causes of homelessness and do what the homeless people need the most which is to help them with sobriety," Galloway told ABC7.

Both Galloway and Aitken lost to Sidhu in 2018.

Richard Lopez, a city water systems operator, is campaigning on prioritizing homelessness, crime and clean water. He also believes Disneyland, a theme park located in the heart of Anaheim, should be taxed more.
