Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene reportedly learned that she'd been booted from the hard-right House Freedom Caucus only after seeing her own name trending on Twitter.

According to the New York Times, Greene was scrolling her Twitter feed on the House floor on June 23 when she came across reports that she had been ejected from the group in a vote held two hours earlier.

She also reportedly declined a meeting with the group's chair, Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, because she had a meeting with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's staff to discuss a bill that would criminalize providing certain medical treatments to transgender people under the age of 18.

Greene, who by then had a strained relationship with many members of the Freedom Caucus, reportedly told another conservative lawmaker that the group "doesn't care about" her bill.

The far-right Georgia lawmaker's ouster-by-Twitter is reminiscent of the days of the Trump administration, when several top officials — from White House Chief of Staff Reince Preibus, to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, to Defense Secretary Mark Esper — found out via Twitter that they had been fired by former President Donald Trump.

Her ouster from the group came days after she called fellow Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado a "little bitch" on the House floor, accusing her of copying her articles of impeachment.

But her ties to the group had long grown frayed, owing to her increasingly close working relationship with McCarthy.
