Virginia held congressional and state elections. Here's who won.
Virginians elected 11 members of Congress this year, and several of those races had national implications.
Two races in particular — in Virginia's 2nd District and 7th District — attracted a great deal of national attention as the Democratic and Republican parties battled for control of the House of Representatives.
Long a swing state, Virginia had recently skewed toward Democrats. But when Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, won the state's 2021 gubernatorial election, it signaled that Democrats' control on the state was far from assured. Virginia was also home to one of the more contentious state legislative fights.
Polls closed in the state at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
