Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado filed for divorce from Jason Boebert, her husband of nearly two decades — and he did not take it well.

According to an affidavit, Jayson Boebert got "extremely angry" with the process server who delivered divorce papers to him and tried to reject the documents.

Jason Boebert was drinking beer and cleaning a gun when he was served on April 25, per the affidavit.

"He started yelling and using profanities, and told me that I was trespassing, and that he was calling the Sheriff's Office," the process server, Mike Estep, wrote in the affidavit. "I told him I was leaving the documents on the chair outside of the door, he closed the door then let the dogs out."

Jason Boebert told the Daily Beast in text messages that he did not know what he was being served for "or if it was some crazy left wing person coming to my house again."

He also said that he didn't do "anything bad" to the process server, and that his dogs were "no threat."

He added: "The divorce is sad, I did not expect this, I love her with every bit of my heart, she has been my soul mate and she is the mother of my Children."

"We have been through a lot together and I just want her to be happy," Jason Boebert said. "So it's what ever she wants."

Lauren Boebert defended her husband on Wednesday, claiming that stories about the process server's accounts are a "complete lie."

"The stories reported about the process server, and even Jayson running over a mailbox are a complete lie," Boebert wrote on Twitter. "Jayson doesn't sit around cleaning guns and he certainly doesn't drink beer out of a glass, just as much as he doesn't drink Bud Light."

Mike Estep, the process server, made his allegations in an affidavit filed with the court. The story and other reports quoted from what Estep said in the legal filing.

Lauren Boebert said in a statement to The Colorado Sun on Tuesday that she was breaking up with her husband because of "irreconcilable differences."

The Republican lawmaker's divorce comes after years of her advocating for the traditional family unit.

In 2022, she gave some faith-based advice to women whose marriages were ending.

"If you start chasing Jesus with everything that you have, I promise you, your husband will chase you chasing Jesus," Lauren Boebert said.

"To be able to speak life into a marriage that seems like it's ending is so powerful," she added.

The Boeberts have four children together.

In the past, the Colorado Republican had written extensively about her relationship with Jayson and how they decided to get married after she became pregnant as a teenager. She also previously defended him after he was arrested, charged, and later pled guilty and served jail time for public indecency and lewd exposure. In her 2022 memoir, Lauren Boebert wrote that her husband "needed the alcohol and anger management classes that came with the plea deal."

Jayson Boebert's attorney and representatives of Lauren Boebert did not immediately respond to requests for comment sent outside regular business hours.
