- Rep. Lauren Boebert says she is dropping her restraining order against her ex-husband, Jayson.
- Boebert said she had "come to some pretty strict agreements" with him.
Rep. Lauren Boebert said on Monday that she's dropping her restraining order against her ex-husband, Jayson.
Last month, Boebert was granted a temporary restraining order after she accused her ex of attacking their teenage son Tyler during a fight on January 9 and threatening to harm her several times.
But it seems that the former couple may have worked things out.
"Jayson and I have come to some pretty strict agreements, and hopefully those are followed, and we don't have to pursue another one in the future," Boebert told Garfield County Judge Jonathan Pototsky on Monday, per the Denver-based media outlet Westword.
The decision, Boebert told Pototsky, wasn't made under any duress.
The truce between Boebert and her former spouse comes as she grapples with a tense reelection bid. In December, the Colorado Republican said she would move from the state's 3rd congressional district to the more conservative 4th district.
"Personally, this announcement is a fresh start following a pretty difficult year for me and my family," Boebert said in a Facebook video in December about her decision to change constituencies.
Switching districts, however, might have done little to boost her electoral prospects. The Denver Post reported in January that Boebert came in fifth among her fellow GOP candidates, per a straw poll conducted with just over 100 Republicans.
And it's unclear if the Boebert family's legal troubles will affect her chances of staying in Congress.
The Rifle Police Department detained Tyler Boebert in February "after a recent string of vehicle trespass and property thefts" in the town.
Representatives for Boebert did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
