First Lady Jill Biden says her husband Joe is "pretty much" ready to announce he's running for reelection, telling the Associated Press that he hasn't finished what he started.
The president has said he intends to run again and that he expects to make his official decision early this year but that hasn't put questions to rest about his next move. If he won, Biden would be 82 on Inauguration Day, breaking the record he set in 2021 as the oldest sitting president, and 86 upon leaving office.
The first lady laughed when AP reporter Darlene Superville asked whether there was any reason to think he isn't running, even though he's said it's his intention.
"Are you not believing this, Darlene?" she said, laughing. "I mean how many times does he have to say it until you believe it."
"He says he's not done," she told Superville during an interview in Nairobi. "He's not finished what he's started. And that's what's important."
Superville asked whether figuring out a time and place for the announcement is all that's left to do.
"Pretty much," she said, smiling.
