  • Pictures of Hunter Biden in his dad's Corvette raise questions about his access to classified documents.
  • A conservative outlet claims it found the photographs on the younger Biden's laptop.

Photographs found on Hunter Biden's old laptop suggest that he could have had access to the garage at President Joe Biden's home where classified documents were stored, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

The four images, whose metadata the outlet said it examined, appear to show Hunter Biden in the driver's seat of his father's Corvette in July 2017.

The photographic find follows other reporting that points to the president's son residing at the private home in Wilmington, Delaware, at a time when the classified documents may have been stored there.

On December 20, the president's personal lawyer notified the US Attorney John Lausch that a batch of classified documents dating from Biden's vice-presidency had been found at his Wilmington home.

Pressed about his care for secret government material at a January 12 press conference, Biden said — seemingly by way of reassurance — that the garage in which some of the second batch was found was locked, and was where he stored his treasured Corvette.

It is unclear exactly when classified documents were first improperly stored there, but he had begun shutting down his vice-presidential office in January 2017, as CNN reported.

The White House and a representative of Hunter Biden did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, and did not respond to a query from the Washington Free Beacon.

The Washington Free Beacon is a conservative website launched in 2012 and backed by billionaire and conservative activist Paul Singer, and regularly angles its coverage in opposition to the Biden administration.

Insider was unable to immediately verify the imagery.

The news comes as an investigation into the handling of classified documents has already been launched, after an earlier batch were found improperly stored at a think-tank set up following Biden's vice-presidency.

In both of these cases, Biden's lawyers appear to have notified the National Archives promptly.

Revelations about classified documents pose a political headache for the Biden White House.

On January 18, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida accused the Biden administration of having a double standard on classified documents, following the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort last year to recover classified documents.

Most reports suggest that the situation is not equivalent, however, with Trump stalling for over a year on returning a much larger volume of documents.

DeSantis also raised an attack line that many Republicans in Congress are now making, saying that Biden's son, Hunter, could have had access to the classified documents.

According to emails examined by Fox News, Hunter Biden listed the Wilmington home as his permanent address in both 2018 and 2019.

In a January 13 letter to the White House, House Republicans headed up by House Oversight Committee Chairperson Rep. James Comer said that Hunter Biden's driver's license was also registered at the Wilmington home as recently as 2018, as Reuters reported.

The Republican Party has long targeted Hunter Biden for some of his past business dealings, and allegations of influence peddling. He is currently under federal investigation over his taxes and is poised to face a new, GOP-initiated probe from the House Oversight Committee.
