The Fulton County special grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump and his alleged attempt to overturn the presidential election results in Georgia has issued subpoenas to several members of Trump's legal team, including his attorney Rudy Giuliani, as well as South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, according to court filings first reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.Other members of Trump's legal team who received subpoenas include John Eastman, Kenneth Chesebro, Cleta Mitchell, and Jenna Ellis. Each of these individuals advised the former president on legal strategies to try to overturn the 2020 presidential election results on the basis of widespread allegations that proved baseless and failed repeated legal challenges and recounts.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been conducting a criminal investigation into whether Trump illegally pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find" enough votes to hand him a win in the state's 2020 electoral college votes, even though he received fewer votes than now-President Joe Biden; a recount determined Biden had won by 11,779 votes.
A representative for the district attorney's office said it could not comment "beyond what is in the documents themselves."
According to a court filing that disclosed the subpoena, Graham asked Raffensperger and his staff about "reexamining certain absentee ballots cast in Georgia in order to explore the possibility of a more favorable outcome" for Trump.

Raffensperger told CNN in November 2020 that Graham had inquired about throwing away mail-in ballots in certain counties. Graham has denied wrongdoing and said his conversation with Raffensperger was "very pleasant."
Jacki Pick Deason, a podcast host who pushed false conspiracy theories about the election, also received subpoenas to testify before the special grand jury.
The Justice Department has separately issued subpoenas looking for information about Eastman, Giuliani, Ellis, and Chesebro related to a plot from the Trump legal team to bring a slate of "alternate electors" who would hand Trump an electoral victory even though he lost.
Tuesday's court filings disclosing the subpoenas indicate that Willis is also exploring the "alternate electors" plot. According to the filing supporting a subpoena for Chesebro, Trump's legal team had coordinated the strategy with the Georgia Republican Party.

"The Witness worked with the leadership of the Georgia Republican Party, including Chairman David Shafer, in the weeks after the November 2020 election in Georgia, at the direction of the Trump Campaign," the filing says. "This work included the coordination and execution of a plan to have 16 individuals meet at the Georgia State Capitol on December 14, 2020, to cast purported electoral college votes in favor of former President Donald Trump, even though none of those 16 individuals had been ascertained as Georgia's certified presidential electors."
