As January 6th Committee hearings push on, Gov. Glenn Youngkin argued the Capitol attack is a calamity in American history, but not a priority for voters.

"The invasion of our capital was awful and it's a blight on our democracy," Youngkin told CBS News' Robert Costa.

In his Sunday interview with "Face the Nation," Youngkin also discussed abortion, Critical Race Theory, and his indecision around running for President in 2024.

Youngkin continued: "I have to be honest, though, I talked to thousands of Virginians, and the topics they want to talk about is not January 6."

He said voters are more concerned about inflation, rising gas costs, and crime than with the insurrection and the committee hearings.

"I just fundamentally believe that the media's attention on this — while I think it's important to the media — is really not what voters are focused on," Youngkin added.

"It's not just the media," Costa responded.

Costa then asked Youngkin if he would support former President Donald Trump running for re-election in 2024 in light of the findings on the insurrection from the committee.

"Republican governors, like Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland, have said President Trump shouldn't run again. Is that your view?" Costa asked.

"President Trump's gonna do what President Trump wants to do," Youngkin responded.
