Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, reportedly urged Wisconsin lawmakers to help overturn President Joe Biden's 2020 election victory, according to emails obtained by The Washington Post.
"Please stand strong in the face of media and political pressure," Thomas wrote in an email from November 9, 2020, The Post reported. "Please reflect on the awesome authority granted to you by our Constitution. And then please take action to ensure that a clean slate of Electors is chosen for our state."
Thomas addressed the emails to state Sen. Kathy Bernier, who was serving as chair of the Senate elections committee, and state Rep. Gary Tauchen, The Post reported.
It was previously reported that Thomas sent similar emails to 29 GOP lawmakers in Arizona.
Her frantic texting with Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows after Biden's victory extended the reach of the election denier movement to the highest court in the land.
"Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!" Thomas allegedly wrote as MAGA raced to undo Biden's lawful win.
January 6 select committee investigators asked Thomas to voluntarily testify in mid-June. She initially jumped at the offer, telling conservative media that she couldn't wait to tell her side of the Capitol siege story.
Her attorney, Mark Paoletta, interceded a week later, telling lawmakers there was nothing to talk about.
"Based on my understanding of the facts the committee has in its possession, I do not believe there is currently a sufficient basis to speak with Mrs. Thomas," Paoletta wrote in a letter reviewed by The New York Times.
Paoletta left the door open to reconsidering an appearance for her — if the committee produced "better justification." He added that the political warfare had rocked the Thomases' world.
"I would also note that this has been a particularly stressful time as the Thomases have been subjected to an avalanche of death threats and other abuse by the unprecedented assault on the conservative Supreme Court Justices and their families," Paoletta wrote.
