'F--- You': San Francisco LGBTQ Democratic Club sends pointed message to Tucker Carlson

  • The Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club slammed Carlson for a 1991 college yearbook entry.
  • Carlson's entry listed that he was part of the "Dan White Society."
  • In 1978, White murdered San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone.

One of San Francisco's largest Democratic clubs sent a pointed note to Fox News host Tucker Carlson after his old college yearbook revealed a membership in a group that appeared to be named after the killer of the club's namesake.

The Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club, named after California's first openly gay elected official, had little tolerance for reports that Carlson may have been part of the "Dan White Society."

Their message was direct: "Dear Mr. Carlson: F--- you."

On November 27, 1978, White, a former member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, fatally shot Supervisor Milk and Mayor George Moscone at San Francisco City Hall in what became one of the darkest days in the city's history.

The Democratic club also slammed Carlson's 1991 yearbook listing as an "exaltation of the murder of Harvey Milk."

Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, Carlson's alma mater, confirmed the authenticity of the yearbook listing to The Wrap. A university representative also told The Wrap that the "society" did not appear to exist at the time and was only listed under Carlson's entry.

The entry can also be viewed through a digital copy of the yearbook, with Carlson's words listed on page 186.

In the entry, Carlson also referred to the "Jesse Helms Foundation," named after the deeply conservative, anti-gay former North Carolina GOP senator who earned the nickname of "Senator No" for his repeated blocking of treaties and appointments.

The fact-checking blog Snopes did not locate any other mention of the Jesse Helms Foundation in the yearbook.

Carlson has not directly discussed the groups listed in his yearbook entry.

However, a day before news of the yearbook entry spread on social media, Carlson addressed the topic of his college yearbook by lashing out at Washington Post owner and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, along with Post media columnist Erik Wemple.

"Jeff Bezos had one of his minions, a mentally imbalanced middle-aged man called Erik Wemple, pull our dusty college yearbook and see if we'd done anything naughty at the age of 19," he said. "That sounds like fun. Let us know if you hear any good stories."
