Biden advisor says no White House official has reached out to President-elect Joe Biden
- President-elect Joe Biden's senior advisor Symone Sanders on Sunday said that no one from the White House has contacted the former vice president since he was declared the projected winner of the election.
- "I think the White House has made clear what their strategy is here and that they are going to continue to participate and push forward these flailing and in many respects, baseless, legal strategies," Sanders said.
- Trump's presidential campaign has filed lawsuits in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, with most of the litigation seeking to halt vote counts.
President-elect Joe Biden's senior advisor Symone Sanders on Sunday said that neither President Donald Trump or any representatives from the White House have contacted the former vice president since he was declared the projected winner of the election.
Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," Sanders said that "a number of Republicans" currently in Congress have reached out to the president-elect.
"I think the White House has made clear what their strategy is here and that they are going to continue to participate and push forward these flailing and in many respects, baseless, legal strategies," she said. "The people are the folks who decide elections in this country and the people have spoken."
Sanders also said Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will immediately start building a comprehensive plan to fight the coronavirus.
"On Monday, we will announce the COVID task force that will operationalize the Biden-Harris campaign plan to address COVID and to a plan that the government can use," she said.
Trump's handling of COVID-19 was a defining issue of the presidential election, especially among voters who chose Biden at the ballot box.
Trump, who was photographed golfing at the Trump National Golf Course in Virginia when most major outlets called the race for Biden, has refused to concede.
Since November 3, Trump has alleged widespread voter fraud and his campaign has filed lawsuits in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania to either halt vote counting or restrict what ballots can be counted in the final vote tally.
For months, Trump has questioned the legitimacy of mail-in ballots and has stated that the fate of the election would wind up before the US Supreme Court.
