Andrew Yang is planning on launching a 3rd political party, Politico reported.- Yang ran as a Democrat in the 2020 presidential race and 2021 New York mayor race.

Andrew Yang, the former Democratic presidential contender, no long considers himself a Democrat and is planning on launching a third political party, sources close to Yang told Politico.
Yang, a former tech entrepreneur, ran for the presidency in 2020 on the back of a pledge to introduce a universal basic income of $1,000 a month.
He also ran as a Democrat in a bid for the New York City majoralty last year, coming 4th as he lapsed in the polls after an encouraging early start.
Yang did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Insider. The story was later confirmed by The New York Post.
The launch of the new political party is being tied to the release of his book on October 5, entitled "Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy".
It's described by the publisher as "a powerful and urgent warning that we must step back from the brink and plot a new way forward for our democracy."
Yang, in seeming reference to the Politico report, tweeted "excited!" on Thursday.

It's unclear what the plartform of the new party will be, or how it will seek to contest for office in either the 2022 mid-terms of 2024 presidential election.
