Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny said he's amusing himself in prison by making outlandish demands to his penal colony wardens.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Navalny shared multiple requests he made to the prison administration, which included asking for tobacco and a bottle of moonshine, nunchucks and a bo staff, a megaphone to give to the "psycho in the cell across the hall," a kimono, and a kangaroo.

He also asked to know the prison's service dogs' names and asked for a massage chair for their squad leader's "stress relief."

Navalny, who is serving 11-and-a-half years in a penal colony in Russia, said all of his requests have been denied so far.

"In response to your request to give the psycho in the cell across the hall from yours a megaphone so that he can yell even louder, we inform you that the megaphone cannot be issued to a convict in the SHIZO," one denial read, according to Navalny.

Another said, according to Navalny: "In response to your request to award the 10th dan in karate to your fellow inmate who killed a man with his bare hands, we inform you that the issue of awarding martial arts qualification ranks is not handled by the administration of the penal institution."

As for knowing the service dogs' names, Navalny said penal colony staff told him that if he learned their names, he could befriend them and "use that for an escape."

As for his request for a kangaroo, Navalny said officials told him double-crested marsupials are "prohibited by the SHIZO."

"I just can't let this pass. According to the Internal Regulations, a convict is allowed to keep an animal with the permission of the administration," Navalny said in a tweet. "I will continue to fight for my inalienable right to have a kangaroo."

Navalny, a fierce critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been imprisoned in Russia since early 2021 on fraud charges, which rights groups have argued are politically motivated.
