Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York celebrated a report that her far-right colleague from Georgia, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, was heckled Tuesday in New York City.

"Welcome to NYC!," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted with a Statue of Liberty emoji. "Where there are still social consequences for shameless bigotry"

Greene was in the city to speak at a pro-Donald Trump rally ahead of the former president being arraigned. Ocasio-Cortez retweeted NBC News' Ben Collins, who wrote that Greene was being "completely drowned out by protesters and I'm pretty close to her. Nonstop whistles and drums and hecklers."

Collins tweeted that the New York Young Republicans Club started chanting USA but that it was hard to hear. "Counterprotesters are louder and there might be more of them," he wrote.

He also wrote, as part of a thread, that the reason she couldn't be heard is that a Trump supporter was handing out whistles and he didn't know Greene was even there.

The New York Times reported that Greene delivered brief remarks calling Democrats "communists" and rattling off GOP policy positions.

"We're the party that wants to protect the lives of the unborn, we're the party of male and female, two genders only," the newspaper quoted Greene as saying. "We're the party of secure borders. We're the party that will bring peace to the world like President Trump did, not World War III, like Joe Biden is doing."

The speech drew "a crush" of onlookers and counterprotesters, the newspaper reported. Someone shouted, "Go back to Georgia!" and Trump opponents banged on her windows when she left, according to the Times.

Among those who did not want Greene in New York City was also Rep. Jamaal Bowman, of New York, who was in the street, yelling that she needs to "take her ass back to Washington" and "we will never accept hateful rhetoric in our city."

"Do your freakin' job, Marjorie Taylor Greene," he said in a video he tweeted. "You don't need to be in New York City talking that nonsense. Go back to your district."
