Live Results: Alabama is holding elections for its state senate, house, and supreme court
Politics1 min read

The Alabama House and Senate are currently under Republican control and are not seen as particularly competitive.

The state has operated under a Republican trifecta for the past 11 years.

Polls close in the state at 7 p.m. local time, or 8 p.m. EST.

    Alabama Legislature election results:

There are 35 seats in the Alabama State Senate, each of which are up for election. Of the 35 seats, 27 are currently held by Republicans and 8 by Democratic legislators.

All 105 of the seats in the Alabama House of Representatives are also up for election. Currently, 73 of the seats are held by GOP legislators and 28 by Democrats.

There are eight justices and one chief justice in the Alabama Supreme Court. State supreme court justices are chosen via partisan elections and serve six-year terms. In 2022, there are just two justice positions up for election: Democrat Anita L. Kelly is running against Republican Greg Cook for "Place 5" on the state supreme court while Republican Kelli Wise is running unopposed for "Place 6."
