The Labour Party war in 11 ridiculous and hilarious memes
Corbyn isn't very popular with Labour MPs — 172 backed a "no confidence" motion against him in June following the result of the EU referendum. But on social networks his fanbase is massive, loyal, and prolific.
To spread their message of support the "Corbynistas" are using memes — funny pictures designed to be shared on social media. In this one, they accuse any politician who doesn't share Corbyn's politics of being a Conservative, a classic Corbynista attack.
Labour MP Angela Eagle officially launched a leadership challenge against Corbyn weeks after the vote of no confidence. Corbyn's supporters were outraged and the battlelines were drawn.
Eagle dropped out leaving Owen Smith to face the wrath of disgruntled Corbynistas. The campaign between Smith and Corbyn quickly turned personal, with the former's past employment as a lobbyist for US drug firm Pfizer cited as proof that he doesn't believe in a totally free NHS.
Owen Smith responded to the criticism? by accusing Corbyn of offering slogans but not solutions. He then unveiled 20 policies he would bring in as prime minister.
The former Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary was also mocked for describing himself as a "normal" guy because he has a wife and kids.
But Smith's supporters are hitting back with memes of their own. They believe Labour is destined for electoral disaster under Corbyn's leadership, a point they make in the below image. It is difficult to argue when you look at recent polls. A YouGov survey published last week gave a 12-point lead to the Tories (40% > 28%).

Harry Potter fans will remember where a young Potter stares into the Mirror of Erised to see his deepest desire staring back at him. In this case, the meme creator's deepest desire takes the form of Labour rebels Owen Smith and Angela Eagle. At this rate, it's probably going to take something supernatural to stop Corbyn winning the Labour leadership election, given how popular he is with the party membership.
Smith supporters point out that the MP for Pontypridd has consistently voted in line with Labour policy while Corbyn has spent a long political career defying the party leadership.
Like in most election campaigns, both sides have accused the other of telling lies. Smith supporters have created memes like this one to try and debunk "myths" surrounding Jeremy Corbyn. This particular effort didn't go viral which probably isn't surprising given the formatting choices.
Save Labour is absolutely determined to get Corbyn out. As far as they are concerned, the existence of the party is at stake. The battle will be decided on September 24, when the results of the Labour leadership vote are announced.
