While hosting the LSU team, who won the national championship on Monday night, Trump said there have been "a lot of presidents - some good, some not so good."

Trump added: "But you've got a good one now, even though they are trying to impeach the son of a b----."

The president also touched on the subject of terrorism, seemingly alluding to recent strikes that took out Iran's top general, Qassem Soleimani, and ISIS's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

"We took out those terrorists like, like - like your football team would've taken out those terrorists, right?" Trump said.

At another point, Trump expressed disbelief that LSU quarterback Joe Burrow cried when he won the 2019 Heisman Trophy. Burrow gave an emotional speech at the award ceremony in which he thanked LSU Coach Ed Orgeron and spoke about poverty in the Ohio community where he grew up.

"Coming from southeast Ohio, it's a very impoverished area," Burrow said at the time of his hometown of Athens, Ohio. "The poverty rate is almost two times the national average, and there's so many people there that don't have a lot."

"I'm up here for all those kids in Athens and in Athens County that go home to not a lot of food on the table, hungry after school. You guys can be up here, too," he added.

Speaking to Burrow on Friday, Trump said, "I don't know, I don't think he's ever cried in his life, I don't believe -- did you actually fight back tears?"

Trump also told Burrow, "You make our country very, very proud... you're an inspirational player. You're an inspirational person." The president suggested Burrow will be "so rich."
