AAP candidate Raaj Kuman Anand will fight from Patel Nagar assembly seat. in 2015 AAP’s Hazari Lal Chauhan won this seat. Smt. Krishna Tirath from Congress, Pravesh Ratan from BJP and Pradeep Kumar Rawal from BSP will give fight to AAP candidate.
During the last assembly elections in 2015, AAP’s Hazari Lal Chauhan won the patel nagar seat with 68868 votes. He defeated the BJP candidate Krishna Tirath who scored 34230 votes. The vote margin between them was 34,638. In 2013, AAP candidate Veena Anand won the BJP candidate Poornimal Vidyarthi as they scored 38899 and 32637 votes respectively. In 1998, 2003 and 2008 elections, INC candidates won this seat. In these elections, BJP candidates were the runner ups and they came in second place.
Patel Nagar state assembly constituency comes within the precincts of Central Delhi parliamentary constituency district of Delhi. Patel Nagar constituency has 1,71,077 voters in total. The break up is 93,450 males, 77,625 females and 2 third gender electors. Patel Nagar will go for assembly election polls in February 2020 as the present term of the Vidhan Sabha will be ending on 22 February 2020. The assembly elections in all the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi will decide the candidates who will be representing them in the Delhi assembly that will be formed after the said elections.
In 1983 elections and during 1993 polls, BJP candidates won this constituency. The runner up candidates during these elections were INC contestants. The high vote score of 68868 scored by the AAP candidate Hazari Lal Chauhan from this seat in 2015 was the highest any candidate has ever scored from here during assembly elections. In all the elections held from 1972, Rama Kant Goswami of INC was the only candidate who was elected two times for the Delhi assembly from this seat in 1998 and 2003.
