In the last five years, the Delhi government passed 44 bills but none of them were none of them were related to the environment, according to a report by Association for Democractic Reforms (ADR) that analysed the performance of MLAs between 2015 and 2020.
This might become a setback for Arvind Kejriwal who is seeking re-election for a second term in a few days. Delhi has changed in the last few years with severe climate-change related problems life. In some cases, it has turned fatal too.
Delhi records poorest air quality in 3 years
Pollution levels in Delhi peaked to a three-year high on November 3, 2019 — a few days after Diwali — notwithstanding claims of heightened checks and curbs by authorities. Kejriwal himself called Delhi a "gas chamber" and blamed stubble burning in Haryana and Punjab for the apocalyptic haze.
However, the Supreme Court slammed the Kejriwal led-government for the high levels of pollution across all major stations in Delhi.

The green budget and false claim
In May 2018, the Delhi government presented a ‘green budget’ that aimed to fight pollution. The Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced 26 programmes and schemes of transport, power, environment and PWD in order to create a unified system for pollution control. However, the results have been negligible so far.
Last year, Greenpeace, an NGO working for a better environment, debunked the AAP government claim to have reduced air pollution by 25%. They said the satellite data shows no statistically significant reduction in PM 2.5 levels over the period from 2013 and 2018.
Arvind Kejriwal has guaranteed to control air pollution and clean the polluted Yamuna river in case they win the upcoming Delhi election to be held on February 8. However, it is difficult to say if he will be able to fulfill his promise or not.
