Shiv Sena candidate list for Maharashtra State elections 2019

Facing the 2014 elections from all the 288 seats of the Maharashtra assembly, Shiv Sena won from 63 seats. Its highly encouraging victory pushed back the other important players in the state namely the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) with 42 and 41 seats respectively. After the polls, Shiv Sena supported the BJP to form the state government and the BJP had got 122 seats out of the 260 seats from which it fielded its candidates.



Looking forward to face the upcoming assembly elections together with the BJP, the Shiv Sena is however, having a tough time in negotiating with BJP on the number of seats it will contest from. Along with the chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP chief for Maharashtra Chandrakant Patil and the Shive Sena Chief for the state Subash Desai are holding talks on the seat sharing formula they will finalize.

Shiv Sena is pressing the BJP to go for a 50:50 seat sharing strategy. However, BJP is insisting that it will retain all its winning seats, share about 10% seats with its other ally namely the Republican Party of India and then share the rest of the seats with Shiv Sena in an equal measure. Shiv Sena is also expecting to make its Aditya Thackeray as the Deputy Chief Minister following the victory of the alliance.
