Delhi Election voting date, time, schedule and all you need to know

• The national capital goes to polls on February 8 for all the 70 constituencies.
• The voting will go on from 8 am to 6 pm on February 8.
• At the end of the day, exit polls will be out, while the results will be out on February 11.

The D-day is here for Delhi voters. For over a month now, Delhi has been in the middle of an election frenzy which also coincided with the nationwide CAA protests.

The national capital goes to polls on February 8 for all the 70 constituencies. The Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party and the Indian National Congress are the main contenders for the majority number of seats in the Legislative Assembly.

The voting will start at 8 am and end at 6 pm on February 8. At the end of the day, exit polls will be out, while the results will be out on February 11.

The Delhi metro has also announced that the metro services shall be running from 4 am.


Over 90,000 policemen will be deployed at Delhi’s 13,750 polling stations. A statement from the election commission said, “adequate night stay arrangements for polling staff on duty and due vigilance by expenditure observers needs to be stepped up and stringent action be taken so that electoral atmosphere is not vitiated.”

For the first time, the election commission has also made way for absentee voters to cast their vote too. “It will enable those voters who couldn’t come to the polling stations due to physical circumstances or unavoidable reasons. PWDs and senior citizens above the age of 80 years can either vote in person or through postal ballot,” said Sunil Arora, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

The election commission has also launched a Booth app for faster voting process by scanning QR codes and will also give advance queue information to voters using Artificial Intelligence. It will also assist polling officials to detect duplicate voting.
