Today voters in Delhi cast their ballots to choose their new local government. The race is between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress.
Voting started at around 8:00 am and came to close at 6:00 pm on 8 February 2020. Out of the 14.69 lakh voters who were expected to cast their ballot during the Delhi’s Assembly Election 2020, the turnout stood at 55.17% at 6:30 pm.
According to Neta App's NewX exit polls, AAP is poised to win the election. The result supports data from opinion polls from before the election that predicted a sweeping win for the party.

During the last Delhi election in 2015, AAP was able to garner 67 seats against the 53-57 seats Neta App predicts for it in 2020.
AAP has been fighting the election on the argument that they have put in the work to deserve the citizens’ vote.”This is the first time that elections in Delhi have the chief minister asking citizens to cast their vote for him, only if they believe he’s done the work,” said Raghav Chaddha, AAP candidate fighting from Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar constituency.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s chief minister, is hoping to earn a second term in office. His manifesto for the election was a 10-step ‘Kejriwal ki Guarantee’ — including promises like regularising the city’s unauthorised colonies, a ‘world-class’ education system, more public transportation and making Delhi litter-free.
BJP, on the other hand, attempted to turn the Shaheed Bagh protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) into an election topic. Although, the BJP also introduced a new bill to regularise Delhi’s 1,731 unauthorised colonies — Kejriwal had included the measure in his 2005 manifesto and delivered by issuing ‘ownership certificates’ to homeowners living in slums.
