The West Bengal election is almost here, but the Battle for Bengal is already underway. We could see a close fight between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
This close fight is also reflected in the number of
crorepati (millionaire) candidates that both the parties have, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The TMC edges out BJP by a small margin, with 11
crorepati candidates as opposed to BJP’s 10.
Out of the top 10 richest candidates, 5 are from BJP, 4 are from the TMC while 1 is from the Congress. BJP’s Bharati Ghosh tops the list with a total wealth of over ₹19 crore.
