Rajendra Nagar Assembly Candidate Names in Delhi state election

Rajendra Nagar is a highly notable Vidhan Sabha constituency falling within the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Parliamentary seat. In this state assembly seat, there are 182524 voters consisting of 104290 men, 78225 women and 9 third gender voters. The present five year term of the ruling party at the Delhi assembly will close on 22 February 2020 and hence all the 70 assembly seats of Delhi including Rajendra Nagar will go for general elections in February 2020 to select their new MLAs. The upcoming elections will decide who will be put on the Delhi throne for the next five year term.

In 2015 general elections conducted for the Delhi assembly from this seat, Vijender Garg Vijay of AAP won this seat. His vote score was 61354. The runner up candidate in this election is R P Singh of BJP who scored 41303 votes. R P Singh had earlier become MLA from this seat in 2013 elections. In this election he defeated Vijender Garg Vijay by scoring 35713 votes. Vijender Garg Vijay had got 33917 votes. Hence there was a thin margin of votes between them numbering 1,796.

In 2008 elections, the MLA from this seat was Ramakant Goswami of INC who scored 29394 votes defeating the BJP contestant Asha Yogi. Earlier in three consecutive elections, BJP candidate Puran Chand Yogi had become the MLA from this seat by winning in three elections. In the 2003 elections, he got 22069 votes and defeated INC’s Raj Kumar Kohli. In 1998 elections, he scored 21150 votes and won over IND’s Brahmi Yadav. In 1993 elections, he got 23847 votes and overtook Brahmi Yadav who represented INC in that election.
