Malviya Nagar Assembly Candidate list in Delhi State Election 2020

Somnath Bharti from Aam Aadmi party, Neetu Verma from Indian National Congress, Shailendra Singh Monty from bharatiya janata party and Gyanchand Gautam from bhajan samaj party will fight on the Malviya Nagar assembly seat.
Malviya Nagar is a state legislative assembly seat occurring within the precincts of the New Delhi parliamentary constituency of Delhi. In Malviya Nagar seat, there are 139943 voters consisting of 76579 men, 63531 women and 13 third gender voters. The five year term of the present ruling government at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha will end on 22 February 2020. Hence all the 70 Delhi assembly constituencies along with Malviya Nagar seat will go for general elections in February 2020. The upcoming elections will decide who will represent these constituencies as MLAs at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha.
The last assembly elections were conducted in Malviya Nagar seat in 2015. The winner of this election was AAP candidate Somnath Bharti. The runner up was BJP’s Nandani Sharma. Their vote scores were 51196 and 35299 respectively. Somnath Bharti of AAP also won in 2013 elections from this seat scoring 32258 votes. The runner up candidate of this election was Arti Mehra of INC who got 24486 votes. In 2008 elections for the Delhi assembly, the winner was Kiran Walia of INC who scored 31283 votes. BJP’s Ram Bhaj was the runner up in this election scoring 27551 votes.
In 1977 elections and 1983 elections, Hans Raj Sethi won from this seat for the first time representing JNP and then representing BJP. The winner of 1993 elections was Rajendra Gupta. Yoganand Shastri won from here two times in row in 1998 and 2003 both times representing INC. AAP candidate Somnath Bharti’s vote score of 51196 in 2015 was the highest a candidate scored in this seat while contesting for the assembly.
