AAP candidate Girish Soni will fight again from the Madipur assembly seat. this time Kailash Santhla from BJP and Jai Prakash Panwar from Congress will fight against Girish Soni. upcoming assembly election in delhi on february 8, 2020. The result of the same will be announced on February 11,2020.

In the elections conducted in Madipur in 2015, the winning candidate was Girish Soni of AAP. He got 66,571 votes against the BJP runner up candidate Raj Kumar who scored 37,184 votes. Girish Soni was also the winner in 2014 elections. In this election, he scored 36,393 votes, winning over the BJP runner up contestant Kailash Sankla who could get 35,290 votes.

Madipur assembly constituency of Delhi comes within the jurisdiction of the parliamentary seat of West Delhi district. The total number of electors in the Madipur state assembly constituency is 1,63,083. Among them, 87,074 are male voters, 76,005 are female voters and 4 are third gender voters. Madipur assembly seat will go for general elections in February 2020 along with the other 69 constituencies of Delhi Vidhan Sabha. The present term of the Delhi assembly is ending on 22 February 2020 and the said elections will choose the candidates who will represent the different assembly seats in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha.

From 1998 to 2013, Mala Ram Gangwal of the INC was the MLA of the Madipur assembly seat in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. He won in three elections conducted in 1998, 2003, and 2008. The votes he bagged in these elections were 33,639, 33,329 and 40,698 respectively. In the 2003, 2008 and 2013 elections, the runner up candidate was Kailash Sankla of the BJP. In 2003, the runner up contestant was BJP’s Laxman Singh Atal. Bhonri Lal Shastri became the MLA from this seat two times in 1977 and 1983 elections. In 1993 elections, the seat was won by BJP’s Swarup Chand Rajan.
