Krishna Nagar is a state assembly constituency in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha which falls within the portals of the West Delhi district of Delhi. The total number of voters in Krishna Nagar seat is 1,90,118 which comprises of 1,00,502 males, 89,613 females and 3 third gender electors. The present five year ruling term of the Vidhan Sabha will end on 22 February 2020. Hence all the 70 assembly seats of Delhi Vidhan Sabha including Krishna Nagar will go for general election polls in February 2020 to choose the next set of MLAs who will take charge in the Vidhan Sabha on behalf of these seats for the next five year term.

In the last assembly elections held for the Krishna Nagar seat in 2015, the winner was AAP’s S K Bagga who scored 65919 votes. The runner up candidate during this election was Kiran Bedi of BJP who got 63642 votes. In 2013 elections, the winner was Harsh Vardhan of BJP who got 69222 votes. During this election, Vinod Kumar Monga represented INC and lost the elections as the runner up.

From 1993 to 2015, this seat was the stronghold of the BJP. In all the five elections conducted during this period, BJP won from this seat. Also, Harsh Vardhan was the most favorite candidate of the voters in this constituency who went to the Delhi assembly successfully from this seat five times consistently. In all these elections, the runner up was INC. INC won from this seat only once in 1983. In 1977, which was the first election in this assembly seat, JNP won the seat.
