The term of the present Vidhan Sabha is ending on 22 February 2020. Adarsh Nagar will see its general elections for the Delhi assembly in February 2020. The last Vidhan Sabha election polling was held in this seat in 2015. Adarsh Nagar assembly constituency of Delhi falls inside the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency. The total number of voters in this seat is 1,47,478. This figure comprises of 81,919 males and 65,551 females.

During the 2015 general elections for the Delhi assembly, Pawan Kumar Sharma of AAP won this constituency. He secured 54026 votes while the runner up candidate of BJP Ram Kishan Singhal scored 33285 votes. In 2013 elections, Ram Kishan Singhal of BJP had won this seat by bagging 36985 votes and defeated the AAP candidate Jagdeep Rana who scored 26929 votes.

Right from 1998 to 2013, INC had been holding this seat for three consecutive terms. For three Vidhan Sabha terms extending for about 15 years, Mangat Ram Singhal of INC was the MLA representing the Adarsh Nagar Assembly constituency in the Delhi parliament. Mangat Ram was the runner up candidate in the 1993 elections who was defeated by Jai Prakash Yadav of BJP. In all the three elections when he bagged the victory, Mangat Ram Singhal had defeated BJP candidates with a good margin of votes. 54026 votes scored by Pawan Kumar Sharma of BJP who is the sitting MLA in 2015 elections is the highest score any contestant had bagged in this constituency.
