The 10 poorest candidates contesting phase two of the West Bengal Assembly Election

In the battle for Bengal, not everyone fighting has deep pockets. In fact, the poorest candidate in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 only has assets worth ₹500, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

Among the ten poorest West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 candidates, five are from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), two are independent and another two are from the Bahujan Mukti Party (BMP).

Unsurprisingly, only one candidate is from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and none are from the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) — the two giants who are fighting it out for the majority — even though their candidates feature heavily among the richest candidates.
