The 29-year old’s income comes from being a tuition teacher and agriculture. Roy has one criminal case pending against him with charges related to theft, criminal intimidation, and others under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).Roy is pitched against TMC’s Sangeeta Malik, BJP’s Harkali Patihar and Congress’ Akshay Santra. He will be going up against TMC’s Runu Mete and CPI-M’s Nayan Sil. Despite being from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party, it’s going to be a tough fight for him with TMC and CPI garnering most of the votes during the 2011 as BJP lagged behind in third position. Party: BSPDistrict: Purba MedinipurConstituency: MoynaBSP’s Kamal Bag contested from Tamluk in 2014 and lost. This time the 41-year old is trying his luck in Purba Medinipur’s Moyna constituency. The primary source of his income is cultivation.However the odds are stacked against him with his competitors being TMC’s Sangram Kumar Dolui, Congress’ Manik Bhownik and BJP’s Ashoke Dinde. Dinde is favoured to win with name recognition paying in his from his cricketing days.Party: BSPDistrict: Purba MedinipurConstituency: Haldia (SC)Like most of the candidates on this list, Subrata Ghorai’s income comes from agricultural activities. He will be going up against TMC’s Swapan Naskar, BJP’s Tapasi Mondal and CPI-M’s Manika Kar Paik.Modal is the incumbent from Haldia, even though the last time she contested, her allegiance was with CPI-M.Party: IndependentDistrict: BankuraConstituency: TaldangraThe 30-year old Ramkrishna Maji is a private employee.
