Restaurant workers trying to return a lost cellphone found evidence of a soccer coach raping at least 10 boys, police say
  • A Tennessee soccer coach is in custody on allegations of raping boys between ages 9 and 17.
  • The coach left his phone at a restaurant, and workers went through it to identify the owner.

A "popular" Tennessee soccer coach is in custody after he left his phone at a restaurant, where workers discovered videos of the coach raping unconscious boys, according to police.

Camilo Hurtado Campos, 63, is accused of child rape and sexual exploitation of a minor, and is expected to face additional charges, according to a statement from the Franklin Police Department.

Police said the restaurant workers looked through Campos' phone in an effort to find identifying details so they could return the device to him. Instead, they found "dozens of unconscionable videos and pictures of children, and so they called police."

The Franklin Police Department estimated that the boys were between the ages of nine and 17 years old, and that there were "hundreds of disturbing videos and pictures" on the phone.

Detectives have been working with local schools to identify the victims, and so far have identified two out of at least 10 children featured in the photos and videos, police said.

"The children in these videos were in such an unconscious state, that they might not even realize that they are victims," the police statement said.

Court records were not immediately available for Campos, and it is unclear if he has an attorney.

Police said Campos was known for frequenting school playgrounds in the two neighborhoods he lived in, and would often approach children and recruit them to play on his soccer team.

"After gaining their trust, Campos invited many of the kids to his home where he drugged and then raped them," the statement said.
